CHECK WITH PHIL · EXTENSION 0.2.2

Your library stays yours.

Last updated September 29, 2026. This notice covers the Check with Phil browser extension, independently created by John Stvan. The library website and linked retailer handle their own services separately.

What Phil reads

On MakerWorld, Phil reads the selected model/profile and relevant filament requirements. When you choose Link your library and grant access, it reads your active library at www.checkwithphil.com or checkwithphil.com. This includes roll identifiers, brand, material, product type, color, counts, remaining estimates, and update times.

What stays in your browser

Comparisons run locally. The extension keeps a read-only library snapshot, connection identity, and your settings in browser extension storage. Manual project requirements and color substitutions are held for the current page session. It does not copy your notes, receipts, passwords, or login tokens. It does not edit your library.

Network connections

Permissions

MakerWorld access lets Phil show the project overlay. Optional access to the two Check with Phil addresses enables library linking. Storage saves preferences and the last snapshot. Scripting registers the read-only library connection after you grant permission. Phil does not request access to all websites, browsing history, or the cookies API.

Retention and disconnect

While the app tab is open, Phil checks for updates about every five seconds. Closing it retains a timestamped snapshot. Read errors and detected account changes clear the active snapshot. Disconnect in extension Settings or revoke its app access to clear the cached library and connection. Removing the extension removes its extension storage. These actions do not delete your original library.

What the project page can see

The overlay displays relevant matching rolls on MakerWorld. Scripts running on that page can inspect displayed information; its separate styling is not a privacy boundary. Credentials are never included.
